SELF
EXHAUST FUME HOOD – FLOOR
STANDING MODEL |
|
With
the advent of the occupational safety
& Health act (OSHA) removal
of toxic fumes and gases from the
laboratory has become even more
important.
The Fume Hood is a
primary safety device in a laboratory.
It offers a substantial degree of
protection to the user. It is a
ventilated enclosure in which gases,
vapours and fumes are contained.
An exhaust fan situated on the top
of the laboratory building pulls
air and airborne contaminants in
the hood through ductwork connected
to the hood and exhausts them to
the atmosphere. It further controls
exposure of the hood user and lab
occupants to hazardous or odorous
chemicals and prevent their release
into the laboratory.
In Fume Exhaust Hood,
room air draws across the hood face
to capture and remove the contaminates.
Hood is provided with inbuilt blower.

bypass openings above and below
the sash. It produces a lower face
velocity than auxiliary air model,
therefore best for use with fragile
equipments or specimens.

The walk-in fumehood
functions similar to that of the
standard fume hood. However, the
size of the same is bigger to accommodate
more working space so as to allow
the user to walk into the hood work
area for setting up the required
arrangements. It permits movement
of larger material into the hood.
All associated accessories will
be same as the standard fumehood.

SCRUBBING
SYSTEM FOR FUMEHOOD |
|
|
A scrubber
is a wet air cleaning technique/equipment
for the removal of water soluble
contaminants (eg. Acid gases, biological
agents and some dusts) from the
exhausted air from a fumehood system.
In general they involve
spraying an aqueous solution onto
a coarse filter material (water
to gas contact area) within the
air flow. The contaminant adheres
to or dissolves into the aqueous
solution where it is physically
or chemically removed from the air
stream. After the wet wash scrubbing
process, the contamination free
air is then vented out into the
atmosphere. The scrubbing system
is used along with Fumehood or any
other industrial exhaust system.
MATERIAL
OF CONSTRUCTION
‘technico’
scrubber is made of polypropylene
lined with FRP. The system consists
of water tank, Spray nozzle, Rasching
Rings, Air inlet and outlet, Mist
Eliminator, Re-circulation pump,
Water level indicator and necessary
control valves.
The Blower capacity,
diameter and height of the Scrubber
will be calculated based on International
standards with consideration of
the diameter of the Ducting, distance
from the Fume Hood, No. of Fume
Hoods etc.
The Scrubbing
system can be supported with associated
accessories like Chemical mixing
tank, pH measuring System, Blower
low air flow alarm system etc.

Canopy
hoods are designed to remove steam,
heat or odours from large or bulky
apparatus such as ovens, steam baths
or autoclaves. Vapour removal is
most efficient when the canopy is
mounted no more that 12” above
the equipment.

The
centrifugal blower is basically
used for exhaust system and fume
hood. This enables draining the
contaminated air from the hood work
area and discharging the same to
the external atmosphere or to the
scrubbing system by means of ducting.
